Call for Proposals

The Southeastern Libr
ary Assessment Conference invites proposals for the November 13-14, 2017, conference in Atlanta, Georgia. Program proposals should be designed to fit within a 45-minute timeframe, including Q&A. We encourage thoughtful, timely proposals on any topic related to assessment in libraries of all types, including, but not limited to:


  • Budget
  • Collaborations
  • Collections
  • Demonstrating value
  • Developing a culture of assessment
  • Ethnographic and observational studies
  • Impact on student learning, retention, progression, and/or graduation
  • Lessons learned
  • Library instruction
  • Marketing and communications
  • Outreach activities
  • Programming and events
  • Reporting results to stakeholders
  • Role of the assessment librarian
  • Services
  • Spaces and facilities
  • Special collections and archives
  • Unique methods
  • Usability
  • User experience

Proposals should include:


  • Presentation title
  • Name, institution, position title, and email address of each presenter
  • Abstract of 200 words or fewer. The abstract should state clearly the relevance of the topic to library assessment and practical implications for libraries.
  • Brief 2-3 sentence abstract suitable for the conference website, program, and marketing materials
  • The current status of the research/project: in progress/ongoing -OR- results in hand and ready to report
  • Whether the research/project has been previously published or presented
  • At least three learning outcomes to be addressed during the presentation

Important Dates:

  • April 21, 2017: Deadline to submit proposals
  • By May 12, 2017: Submitters will be notified of the status of proposals
  • June 1, 2017: Conference registration opens
  • October 13, 2017: Regular registration closes
